Services Offered
A quick conversation to get to know you and your child. We’ll discuss your child’s goals, identify their specific learning needs, match them with the right service tier, and set up a schedule that works for your family.
$70 per hour
Ideal for students who need targeted help with their existing schoolwork. We work directly with your child’s assigned homework, class materials, or parent-selected lessons to reinforce key concepts and keep them on track.
Our most affordable option — focused guidance without the cost of extra curriculum fees.
$100 per hour
We partner with parents to review past assessments and conduct an in-depth evaluation of the student. Using these insights, we create personalized, custom-designed learning materials and deliver targeted 1-on-1 instruction to meet your child’s unique goals.

Empower your student with the lifelong skills they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom. Beyond traditional subject-matter tutoring, this program focuses on teaching students how to learn, plan, and execute effectively.
We work 1-on-1 with your child to build customized systems, routines, and strategies that boost focus, eliminate last-minute study panic, and foster independent learning habits.

Navigating the special education process can be overwhelming—you don't have to do it alone. We review your child’s IEP to identify key areas for improvement, attend school meetings alongside you to advocate for appropriate accommodations, and conduct ongoing check-ins to ensure the school remains in full compliance with your child's plan.

About Us.
Ewan McCartney (he/him) is the founder of Puget Sound Ability Prep. A former Seattle Public Schools Special Education Teacher, Ewan designed specially designed instruction (SDI) across multiple disciplines—including developing some of the district's first Science SDI—and managed numerous IEPs.
Ewan holds a Master’s in Special Education from the University of Washington and teaching endorsements in Special Education, Reading, Mathematics, History, and Social Studies. Drawing on his lived experience as an autistic educator and his background as a Crisis Intervention Specialist for King and Pierce Counties, Ewan is deeply committed to disability justice and individualized, skills-based instruction.

Are your services offered in person or virtually?
For Seattle Metropolitan Area Residents:
Most of our services are available both in person and virtually, depending on your family's and student's preference. In-person sessions take place at a location convenient for you, such as your home, a local library, a park, or a coffee shop.
For Clients Outside the Seattle Metropolitan Area:
We welcome clients residing outside the local Seattle area; however, all services are conducted virtually.
Please note: After-Hours Academic Assistance is currently provided exclusively online regardless of geographic location.
What subjects and age groups do you cover?
We provide specialized support across core academic areas—including Mathematics, Reading, Writing, History, Social Studies, and Science, as well as executive functioning, study skills, and life skills. We support students from Kindergarten up to 12th grade.
Can you accommodate custom or specialized requests?
Absolutely. We are committed to providing flexible instruction tailored to your student's unique needs. If you would like to inquire about a custom service or specific support, please reach out to us at pugetsoundabilityprep@gmail.com.
Do you offer small group sessions for siblings or friends?
Yes, we offer group prep for up to three students who share compatible learning goals and work well together. Additional students are added at a .5x rate per child after the first. To maintain instruction quality, we reserve the right to recommend individual sessions if academic needs diverge or social dynamics hinder progress.
